So what if there’s this thing you thought you were right about, but then were told you weren’t. You thought you were right because you saw something a certain way, but then realized that it was something you were doing to keep yourself from seeing it any other way. And you know you’re prone to doing these things, so you think maybe, just maybe, that could be the case. After all, you’re not perfect. You don’t necessarily know how to do everything. You are smart but no one does everything right all the time. Maybe you misunderstood. Then what?

You ‘fess up to it, try not to beat yourself up too badly for being human and move on with a fresh perspective. Hopefully.
You drink heavily, take your credit card and buy new sunglasses to celebrate the end of winter.
Seriously though- I’m going with Sizzle. Humans make mistakes, miscalculations- misinterpret things. Move on. Keep going.
Happens all the time. Isn’t the outcome always different too?
What do you think should be done?
You eat quite a lot of chocolate, whilst stroking your chin and saying “hmmm”. Then you admit there are at least three sides to every story and you accept it for what it is.
You suck up your pride and admit (to yourself, even if not out loud) that you are human. You mis-read, mis-understand, mis-interpret, mis-speak, mis- alot of things.
It’s what makes us who we are.
Then? If I were you, I’d start on by going for a long run (notice I said if I were YOU, ahem). Then, I’d be easy on myself. Try to learn from the experience, but know that stuff like this happens to us all. The best case scenario is that you are able to grow from it.
Then you appologize and move on.
Before saying you were wrong, you explain it out by saying I saw it this way under these conditions and THAT is why I thought this…on re-evaluation I realized there is another way to consider it and that could be right as well…all of course while consuming good wine and eating chocolate!!
There are so many different ways to see something and to understand it. It is easy to be drawn into a certain way of looking at something based on a chosen or not chosen reading of facts.
The challenge is to remember that there are the different ways to see it – all those angles. Unlike a puzzle where the pieces only fit one way, life and people work much differently. SO the challenge is remembering to see things with an open mind… and consider all the different ways of seeing a situation.
Just don’t do what I do… analyze everything to a reasonable conclusion based on the information given… although that could be the answer, it could not be the answer as well. No one faults your logic, but who knows how much you missed in thinking something that was incorrect. (Everyone is human, ya know)
Or… be so drawn into all the different ways of seeing a situation that you drive everyone crazy with all the possibilities and potential outcomes!
You suck it up, apologize, chalk it up to a “learning experience” and then sweat the frustration out of your system.
