An IM conversation between my sister and me.
Me: Did mom tell you about her new phone?
Sister: No, what is it?
Me: I don’t know, but she’s very excited about it.
Sister: Why? Because it’s not held together with tape and a rubber band.
Me: Ha! Well, probably that. But it has a camera. Ooooooohhhh!
Sister: What?! What is she going to do with that?
Me: I know. So we can now have pictures of the sky or the floor, but right on the phone! She’s all “and now my text messages can have pictures!”
Sister: What? She doesn’t text!
Me: I know! I told her that, and she said yes, she does. SHE DOES NOT!
Sister: Oh no, we need to take that phone away from her.
Me: Yeah, this will not end well.

hahaha! Mom is definitely stepping outside of her momism here! The daughters are right to be concerned.

Worst day ever - when my dad learned to text message. It is a nightmare. Be warned.

Aww come on, wouldn’t you rather get a text from your mom, than no call at all? Or worse, the dreaded 2 hour conversation about NOTHING. Technology is here, embrace it.

Wow, my mom turned her text stuff off cause she was getting texts from my cousin (why, I don’t know, I’ve never sent mom a text because I know she doesn’t text, I assume people don’t till I hear different!) and it was costing her money and she never read them or responded to them.

This is hilarious - you two sound exactly like my sister and I, always making fun of Mom’s ineptness.

This could get ugly fast. You’ll have a right to be concerned if she texts you after 10pm. My mom has a cell phone, but never has it on. What’s the point?

It’s funny - my mom has gotten tech stuff quicker than me. Computer at home, wireless phone, cell phone - she did all those first. (I was in high tech in Silicon Valley, and wanted a tech-free home environment to bring balance)
My dad, though, is anti-tech. He has a cell phone but keeps it turned off a lot because he doesn’t want to use the battery. And when it is on, if we text him, rather than text us back he phones us!
Parents are weird. (And I’m a parent, so that makes me weird to my kids, I guess. The circle of life)

Oh come on, give her a chance. My mom learned, to text that is, take and send pictures, not quite there yet.
