I don’t usually get too much into shopping here on this blog, but believe me, when I have the means and the motivation, I can do some shopping. And for those accustomed to me being totally deep and worthy of your reading, you should probably stop reading now. Because this post is shallow. If, to you, shallow means REALLY AWESOME STUFF.
For many, it is far too late to look into gift-buying and what little I’m doing this year has been fun, but I, too, am over it. This is not a gift guide. Unless of course you want to a) go shopping together! b) talk about shopping! or c) buy me things. Then, by all means, it’s a guide.
Anyway, here are a few things I’ve come across lately that I think are so awesome that I’d sell my kidney and my dog just to get a hold of. Welcome to the materialistic side of me, world. It’s cozy in here.
Building a World prints. They may not be your style, they may not be my style, but help me, Rhonda, I want them. All of them.
Look! So cute!

I can’t explain it, I just love them. Something about them just speaks to me.

(Photos directly from Building a World’s site.)
A few years ago, I remembered my mother had a few dozen of my Grandfather’s old records (yes, that kind of record) stored in her basement. Since then I’ve nagged her monthly, if not daily, to break them out. Well, this Christmas I am finally going to get her to do it. Except, well, none of us actually owns a turntable any more. Which I think is a tragedy in itself as having signed copies of original Dean Martin records in your possession and no means to play them is downright offensive.
So, we’re on the quest for a good record player. It needs to have all the workings and capabilities of modern music with all the nostalgia of the Mickey Mouse suitcase-style turntable I had as a kid. Oh yes, yes I did.
In the meantime, I would totally settle for one of these turntables from Urban Outfitters. Because, lo, they seem pretty cool. And they’re affordable, unlike the antique of my dreams, says the girl with no job.
As I may have mentioned a thousand and one times before, I love a full house. Whenever I look around my house, I hardly ever picture changes or upgrades based on just what I like to live in. I picture it with people around, using stuff, living in it. Having small parties or family in town for the holidays is, I don’t know, a dream of mine. Yes, I am crazy.
Even crazier, one of the first things I think about are dishes and kitchen ware. I mean, other than the toilet and clean sheets, that is what really matters when people come to visit. Which is why I think I pine after things like double ovens and juice glasses.
Like these from Anthropologie:
They’re the Noble Morn glass… and who doesn’t love a little fleurs-de-lys in their life?
And finally, some shoes. Now these are not your typical girl-blogging-about-shoes shoes, so don’t get all crazy. These are shoes-of-a-smart-comfortable-person shoes.
They are Sanuk beach sandals. They do not look like sandals and yet, they are not shoes. However, they are all awesome. If you haven’t heard of them, I encourage you to go to their site and read a little about their philosophy and technology. It’s pretty cool.
No surprise to anyone, I like anything that involves the beach, and so I already own a pair of these.

Yes, they look a little like slippers. I will give you that. But I wore them through my endless hours of airline travel/bumping/flight delay/flight rescheduling fiascos a week ago, and I was so glad I did.
The ones I have are definitely a “winter” shoe. But in about 5 months, or sooner depending on my hope of a little Caribbean escape, I think I may need a summer pair, as well.
Or maybe these, so I can be like you fancy shoe ladies

Leopard print is automatically cuter. Everyone knows that, right?
I found the pair I own on Zappos.com, for a very reasonable price, by the way.
For now, that’s about it. My little materialistic wishlist. If at any time you wake in the night with the unexplainable yet undeniable urge to a) go shopping) b) talk about shopping! or c) buy me things, just say the word. I AM SO THERE.

Those prints are great. And I love the glass!
I love love LOVE those prints! And the saldals. Well done.
*Um, SANDALS, even.
Those drawings are so cute!
I have been doing too much shopping for myself. Oops. I can’t resist the sales.
I love the record player in the little suitcase. My very first record player was very much like that one. More and more is being released on vinyl as the hipsters drive demand, so a record player is actually a wise investment.
I had the Mickey Mouse turntable, too! I love the retro look of the first turntable you pictured. Get that one. Then I’ll come over and we’ll cut a rug!
LOVE the Building a World prints! So cute.
