In my last post, oh, almost two weeks ago, I said I’d like to do something special for the four year anniversary of starting this site, like maybe a new design (viola!), or some kind of giveaway. Fun ideas. And then, as a surprise to everyone, I made it disappear!
Not that that was part of the plan, it wasn’t, but we’re all back now and better than ever and in large part that is thanks to LiLu who had no idea that when I said “Hey, maybe you could help me with a new header when you have time” it really meant “The Internet is going to blow up on us. Repeatedly!” But we recovered, she worked her ever-growing nerd magic (quite beautifully), moved my blog across the country (no, really), upgraded a seriously ancient version of Wordpress, and here we are today, with some new pretty design and a header that is not only different, but randomly rotates through a few photos every time the page loads. Woohoo.
I also have to say, I’m a little overwhelmed with all of the emails and tweets I got asking where the blog was. Really, I had no idea so many people would be concerned– it was really touching. I’m not a person that looks at statistics—I remember to do it about twice a year— so I’m really thankful for the reminder of all the people I get to communicate with through this site. I missed you, too! Gag. But! Internet, I still love you a lot!
And I really had no idea how many of you visit here every week. It makes me nervous what you could be thinking about, what you know about me, where you are, where you’re from… there are just so many questions. You have them, I have them, so while I think of a real way to “celebrate” the rebirth of this blog, let’s have a Q & A. Ask me anything! I’ll answer as best I can!
But one more thing: I get to ask you something, too. I found some of you just this month, and others years ago. Some I remember very clearly, I remember you before you were out of college, before you were married, before you had children. I remember you when you started running, when you survived cancer, when your sweet dog died, and your reaction to the Super Bowl. I remember you four boyfriends, three states, and two jobs ago. I’m sure some of you remember me that way, too.
In the comments, if you’d indulge me for just a second, can you tell me how you got here? If you remember how you found this site, I’m curious.
Then, ask me anything!

I do remember how I found you! JustACoolCat recommended that I visit your blog, as he thought I would enjoy your writing, and lo and behold he was so right.
My question for you: What would your superhero name be and what power would you have?
I can’t remember how or when I found you – - I am so glad I did though. You became a source of comfort during some hard times. I fell off the face of the blog world but I am dipping my toes and slowly coming back. Hmm…questions.
I don’t remember how I found you, but I assume it was when I was trying to find blogs about real people running, not the super athletes running.
I don’t really remember, but it seems like I followed your comment on another running blog to yours. And, I’d love to have you come up and run with me!
The funny thing about my blogging friendships is that I can rarely remember how I found them. I feel like I found you through Egan or Brandy or vice versa. I know it’s been years. I’m so glad though.
xo
I don’t remember either. But when I started looking at other running blogs, yours was one of the first. Real people, struggling with running, life balance, etc. Sow elcome back!
I followed a comment you left on another running blog. I was looking for people who combined a love of running with the love of writing.
When did wrting become important to you and who was your biggest influence?
Sunday I watched my daughter run G street next to the White House – for whatever reason, I thought of you. I love the changes and can actually remember finding you. I found you via a comment you left with Bre on her blog. I clicked over and have never looked back. Not only do I enjoy your writing and your thoughts and insight and creativity and adventures – as if those things weren’t enough – you are real and have a way of putting things that is just… you!
Question – so what adventures and creativity do you have planned next?
Thank you for writing and sharing!
I found you through Kyla, I believe.
And I’m sorry the internet blew up. But! Like a phoenix from the ashes, right? Right?!
*sighs with contentment. and a ridiculous amount of relief*
Love the new blog and banner! Great way to celebrate 4 years. I don’t quite remember how I came across your blog, I think it was through Sizzle’s blog, but I’m not sure. I love it though, and keep coming back
loving the new site! good job lilu!
gosh, like sizzle said, i can’t even remember now how i found you! i know that it was a LONGASS time ago… and you, me, brandy, egan, the exception, etc were around the same haunts.
you’re one of my favorites, and also one of the bloggers ive been reading for the longest time!
I just found you on Mel’s blog and am just sort of looking around. (I like what I see.)
My question for you: What kind of photo printer do you have (assuming you have one).
Ooh lookie above, I sent you a reader!
I think I found you on Sizzle’s blog and was totally drawn to you immediately – a fellow runner! Then I fell in love with your photography and I’m so excited about the new section of the blog.
My question is: what’s the best run you’ve ever been on?
Earlier this evening, I looked back at some of your previous posts to see if I could figure out when and how I found you.
It must have been a comment you made on someone else’s blog, but I couldn’t remember any more than that.
I know this: I enjoy your writing and your pictures!
I found you through Brandy’s blog and a little bit of internet magic… I love your writing and your adventurous outlook on life and I have been a regular visitor since. And that we share a common birthday (if a number of years apart).
Now, my question for you… hmmm…
In this past year you have travelled far, farewelled a friend, supported others, quit your job and embraced your photography. What do you HOPE is waiting for you in 2010? Not just good times and fulfillment as this surely goes without saying, but the tangible stuff… work, travel, friends… the big stuff and the small stuff. Dream big Lesley… go crazy.
Share a secret wish you might like to send out to the universe.
I don’t remember where I found your blog, but I am glad that I did. Even if reading some of your posts make me nostalgic for CO and sad that I can’t return for a while.
If I had a question, it would be a two part one about how to restart my blog and how to build an audience. I notice that you seem to have a common theme of exploring new ideas as life presents them, not just about running, unless I’m mis-interpreting it. Do you find that having a common general theme has helped you build an audience? My time to blog is limited, but I find that I can’t seem to stick with a theme. Whether it should be about running, Thai restaurant reviews, my yoga classes, or just random things I find interesting.I hope that made sense.
I wondered what had happened! Hmm…how did I find you…honestly now I can’t recall but I know it was off of someone else’s blog…of course now I’ve been so out of the loop and barely blogging myself lately that it’d really be tough to figure out!!
I have to say I love the fact that you were brave enough to just up and quit the job and I’m extremely jealous of your beach trips. I love the beach myself and while I haven’t announced anything I actually get to go to an island in just over a week and I can’t wait!!
